The 60-second earworm âPain,â released by the producer and singer PinkPantheress on TikTok earlier this year, rides a moody flip of the early-2000s hit âFlowers,â by the U.K. group Sweet Female Attitude. In what is by now the defining story of our era, the single garnered the 20-year-old musician a record deal at Parlophone, as well as fans in stars like Clairo and Giveon. TikTok even named it the âbreakout track of the summer.â Itâs also a perfect example of Gen Zâs impulse towards Y2K nostalgia. But even so, PinkPantheress seems like a glitch in the Matrix. â â While undergirded by a bevy of iconic house and drum ânâ bass samples, her debut mixtape 'to hell with it,' released last week, maps what feels like genuinely uncharted territory. Across a brief 19-minutes, PinkPantheress constructs, and untangles, webs of feeling.â â PinkPantheress is the future, her debut mixtape proves it.â â Tap the link in our bio to read our review. â â Photo: Brent McKeever

Church-loving surf instructor Matthew Taylor Coleman fell into online conspiracy theories, then allegedly told the FBI he killed his kids to save the world. Now, looming over Colemanâs prosecution is a bigger question of QAnonâs place in the American political order. Has the U.S. populace drifted so far from reality that QAnon is just another ideology, and Coleman was a true Q believer fully in command of his faculties? Or would only the criminally insane believe in the conspiracy so deeply that theyâd act on it?â â Tap the link in our bio to read more.â â Illustration by @staufferstudio
California has become the first state in the U.S. to make non-consensual condom removal, also referred to as âstealthing,â illegal.â â The nonconsensual removal of a condom without a partnerâs consent is widely known as âstealthing.â The term was popularized by an April 2017 paper by then-Columbia law student and author of 'Sexual Justice' Alexandra Brodsky, who interviewed subjects â mostly women â who had been victims of the practice. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Brodsky says that while her subjects couldnât quite find the language to identify the practice, all recognized that it had been a significant violation of their boundaries and consent. âA lot of people were struggling with, âIs this bad? It felt bad to me,'â Brodsky says. âI think legal recognition of the harm is one way to validate survivorsâ experiences of [stealthing].ââ â Prior to Brodskyâs research, âstealthingâ was a fairly well-known term within the gay community, particularly with reference to an HIV-positive man actively trying to infect an HIV-negative man without their knowledge or consent.â â Tap the link in our bio to read more.
Eighteen former NBA players have been accused of defrauding the leagueâs Health and Welfare Benefit Plan out of almost $4 million, the U.S. Attorneyâs Office in the Southern District of New York announced Thursday.â â Among the players are Sebastian Telfair, Glen âBig Babyâ Davis, Tony Allen, Ruben Patterson, Shannon Brown, Will Bynum, Christopher Douglas-Roberts, Terrence Williams, Alan Anderson, Tony Wroten, Jamario Moon, and more.â â The U.S. Attorneyâs Office has scheduled a noon EST Thursday news conference at a Manhattan courthouse to discuss the indictment, which alleges that the 18 former players â and 19 people total, with Tony Allenâs wife Desiree also charged â were involved in a scheme that drained over $3.9 million from the NBAâs Health and Welfare Benefit Plan through false claims. â â The scheme â where the accused players were reimbursed for medical procedures that never took place â was carried out from 2017 to 2020, the indictment states. Each player has been charged with one count of conspiracy to commit healthcare and wire fraud.â â This story is developing. Tap the link in our bio for updates.
