While the NBA’s rift with unvaccinated players wages on through the first week of training camp, the league confirmed Wednesday that unvaccinated players who can’t play in cities where vaccination is required will not be paid for the games they miss.

“Any player who elects not to comply with local vaccination mandates will not be paid for games that he misses,” NBA spokesperson Mike Bass said in a brief statement Wednesday.

The NBA’s ruling impacts players league-wide, but potentially and especially the Brooklyn Nets’ Kyrie Irving and the Golden State Warriors’ Andrew Wiggins, a pair of high-profile, max-contract players who play in markets — New York City and San Francisco, respectively — where the vaccination requirement is mandated.

If both players, who are currently unvaccinated, miss their team’s home games — 41 games for each player — Irving stands to lose $17.5 million this season and Wiggins $15.8 million, Forbes Sports’ Tommy Beer noted.

In a relatively short time, Tirzah Mastin has carved out an entirely new life for herself. In the span of three years, she’s taken on a career in music that she never imagined, starting with the 2018 release of her cult-classic debut, 'Devotion.' In the years following that release, she started a family with her partner Giles Kwakeulati King-Ashong, a fellow musician who performs under the name Kwake Bass, and their two children. On Friday, she’ll release her sophomore album 'Colourgrade,' a lush record filled with soft etchings of love songs on the gradient between R&B, experimental electronic, and art-pop. “I’ve always seen music in textures and colors,” Mastin says, explaining the idea behind the album’s title.

Even with her newfound success, Tirzah hasn’t catered her sound to what might appeal to folks outside of her inner circle. She doesn’t even think she’s capable of it. “It’s like you’re always doing a painting with crayons and then feeling like you can’t pick up a paintbrush,” she says. For Mastin, the craft of music-making is inextricable from her friendships. Although the project is under her name, the music is a collaboration between her and her childhood best friend, Mica Levi. “It feels very much like a big group project that just happens to have my name slapped on the front,” she says. “I’m just another pawn on the board.”

#GabbyPetito’s father, Joe Petito, has asked for the same attention given to Gabby’s case to be paid to other missing persons. “I wanna ask everyone to help all the people who are missing and need help,” he said Tuesday, as Petito’s family announced a foundation in her honor to help other missing persons. “It’s on all of you, everyone that’s in this room to do that,” he added, addressing reporters directly. “It’s not just Gabby that deserves that.”

Petito disappeared on a cross-country “van life” road trip with her fiancĂ©, Brian Laundrie. Her family reported her missing on September 11th and the Denver FBI found Petio’s remains September 19th in the vicinity of the Spread Creek Dispersed Camping Area in Grand Teton National Park. Her death has been ruled a homicide.

Laundrie had refused to speak with police after returning home to Florida September 1st without Petito. His parents told authorities on September 17th that he’d disappeared. The FBI is continuing their search for Laundrie, who is considered a person of interest in Petito’s disappearance and is wanted on a warrant for debit card fraud committed after Petito’s death. A lawyer for Petito’s family called on Laundrie to surrender to authorities. “The Laundries did not help us find Gabby they’re sure not gonna help us find Brian,” attorney Richard Stafford said. “For Brian, we’re asking you to turn yourself in to the FBI or the nearest law enforcement agency.”

R. Kelly was found guilty on all counts of racketeering, sexual exploitation of a child and kidnapping by a jury on Monday at his federal trial held in U.S. District court in Brooklyn. Kelly has denied all accusations against him.

The New York federal case against R. Kelly, whose full name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, included racketeering, transportation to engage in illegal sexual activity and coercion of a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity charges. The racketeering charge and violations of the Mann Act, which prohibits sexual trafficking across state lines, were particularly central to the prosecutors’ case to ensure the singer and his associates were held responsible for coordinating the sexual abuse of minors.

With the racketeering charge, the prosecution worked to establish that Kelly was the leader of a criminal enterprise that preyed on women and underage girls for sex. It allowed the prosecution to introduce evidence from more than 30 years ago, with 11 accusers among the more than 40 witnesses testifying during the trial. For the first time, prosecutors could introduce criminal charges against Kelly in connection with Kelly’s marriage to the late Aaliyah, who was then 15 years old.

The indictment involving Aaliyah accused Kelly of scheming with others and paying a bribe in exchange for obtaining “a fraudulent identification document” on August 30th, 1994. A day later, Kelly, who was then age 27, married the underage Aaliyah in a secret ceremony. The marriage was annulled months later because of her age.
