The famous painter, Pablo Picasso, once said that every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up. Priyanka Maheshwari did not face this dilemma as from very early childhood she had decided  that her life will be full of colours.”I did not face any opposition from my parents as they had seen me doing this as a child”. The founder of Colorbox, Priyanka says: ” Not only in India but also abroad art is not seen as a career.

” In her case, her parents knew what she wanted to do.  But to further nurture and hone this passion, she did masters in fine arts. “Of course, there was a time when arts wasn’t  considered as a career option but this mindset is changing as more and more young people  are becoming inclined towards art and many parents because of children’s interest are giving them the freedom to pursue this passion.

Priyanka  conceived the Colorbox about three years ago to train people  and guide them for entrance exams of NID, NIFT, CEED, NATA and architecture at under-graduate and post graduate level. Like its name Colorbox has many hues because Priyanka says at Colorbox she has helped people discover an artist which was always there in themselves but they never knew. “Every child is born with an aesthetic sense. At Colorbox we have people who had no art background. But we helped them discover creativity and aesthetic sense. The best part of Colorbox is that many parents who used to come to drop their kids have joined as they say ‘we love what you’re doing and we want to be part of it’.”

So Colorbox, like a box of chocolates as the mother of Forrest Gump said, has something for everyone. “It is a unique place where you can find a six-year-old kid working studying with six-year-old as the classes are decided  not the basis of age group but pupils’ art skills,” says  Priyanka, adding that there is no age for being an artist.

Regarding to the future of Colorbox, Priyanka says things are moving in the right direction and in future she wants to spread it internationally as she feels the art education all over the world is almost same. She is doing consultancy for many international students. Currently she is helping some art students in Dubai.
