Juhi Chawla’s Pakistan connection

Written by Asif Ullah Khan

Juhi Chawala is visiting Karachi these days. The 50-year-old actor shared a photo on Instagram stating that she was having lunch with friends and family at Karachi’s Boat Club. She added that she then headed to the cinema to watch Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 and called the film “delightful”.

Juhi visits Pakistan at least twice a year because Pakistan’s biggest film producer Satish Anand is her uncle. Satish is son of Jagdish Chand Anand, the film producer and distributor stayed back in Karachi after the Partition and continued to run a hugely successful business that included the distribution of major Indian releases in Pakistan. Juhi Chawla is Jagdish Chand Anand’s sister-in-law’s daughter.

After JC Anand died in Karachi in 1977, his son, Satish Anand, continued his father’s legacy and runs the Eveready group in Pakistan, which has released over 400 films besides producing over 100 television shows and events.

Juhi also shared a video of her visit to the garment store called Four Stories run by her nieces Selina and Kiran. In the video clip, Juhi says: “Hi, Assalam o Alaikum. I am Juhi Chawla Mehta and I’m here in Karachi, Pakistan and I have come to this lovely store little store called Four Stories, and it’s got the cutest [clothes].”

The  actress adds, “I wish my children were little now but they have grown up, but these are lovely little clothes for kids….”

The biggest surprise of the visit is that Juhi got a positive response from the social media on the both sides of the border.
